Biodegradable

The packaging of the products constitutes one of the main origins in the production of waste, bringing forth the consequent problem of disposal. The appearance of a product's packaging plays an important role in taking the decision of purchase, being, however, also a social problem resulting from the consumption process. In fact, the packaging life cycle is always short: after a few days or, at most, a few weeks the packaging of a product becomes the solid urban waste. The project aims at the development of an innovative eco-packaging that respects the sustainability criteria intended for the reduction of the negative aspects of packaging. In particular, the use of plastic material made biodegradable to produce packaging will allow natural agents to absorb and decompose the packaging, once it enters the waste cycle, reducing the need to resort to landfill or incineration, but rather enriching the soil with the organic components (H2O and CO2).

The developed innovative packaging dissolves within a short time span without leaving any polluting residue. Being 100% degradable, it leaves no trace in the environment. However, if the package is buried in the soil with bacteria after consumption, it starts an organic biological process that releases such organic components as H2O and CO2 into the soil.

The produced plastic packaging can be utilized for different purposes of the daily use with particular significance in the cosmetic sector. It is a revolutionary product that is completely biodegradable and that, at the same time, contributes to the enrichment of the soil in which it is discharged. Its implementation does not derive from organic materials but rather from the transformation processes of the common plastic that makes it completely biodegradable.
